| 505 | _aABSTRACT: Barcode Localization is an extremely important rask in Barcode Reading system, which depends highly on image conditions and image processing method it uses. Barcode Localization algorithm uses adaptive thresholding for image smoothing and canny edge detection to locate the lines to be binarized. However, the latter methods can’t be applied in some barcode images like barcodes with wrong color combination (light to light or dark to dark) and barcodes that violate the quiet zone. In this study, we present enhanced method using different algorithm to solve the said limitations of the existing algorithm. We used Luminosity method because it produces more distinctive result and we used line detection algorithm to isolate the texts in quiet zones of the barcode with the actual barcode lines. The said methods produce more efficient output than the existing algorithm. | ||
