_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study aimed to assess the management practices of selected local colleges and universities in the National Capital Region as evaluated by the deans and chairpersons/heads of the College of Arts and Sciences of the four Local Colleges and Universities. The mixed method of research was utilized in this study. A survey questionnaire on the profile of the institutions and on the management practices of the four participating Local Colleges and Universities in NCR was used to gather information. Likewise, structured interview was used to support the gathered data. The questionnaire was researcher-made instrument based on the dimensions of accreditation of Association of the Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCU-COA) and other related literatures and studies. The instrument was validated by five (5) panels of experts in administration and was also subjected to pilot testing. The four participating LCUs have evaluated the nine dimensions which produced a grand mean of 3.15 which means that the management practices of the participating institutions are generally rated as high as assessed by the deans and chairpersons/heads. Generally, there is no significant difference in the evaluation of the management practices of the four local colleges and universities on the dimensions of governance and administration, faculty, curriculum and instruction, student development and services, library, research, community extension services, laboratory and physical plant when grouped according to deans and chairpersons/heads. There were no significant differences in the extent of assessment when grouped according to institutions on the dimensions of management practices on governance and administration; student development and services; community extension services; library and research. Significant differences existed in the responses of the four participating local colleges and universities on their assessment on the three dimensions on curriculum and instruction, laboratory, and physical plant; hence, the null hypothesis of no significant differences are rejected. The faculty is perceived as the strength of the Local Colleges and Universities. However, laboratory needs to be strengthened to ensure quality services be provided to their clienteles. The proposed educational enhancement program hopes to further develop their performance and help improve the quality of education it offers to its clienteles. _u |
