_aABSTRACT: The study aimed to determine the impact of the N.U.R.S.E. program on the level of self-esteem of abused women. Specifically it answers the following questions: What are the abuses inflicted on the participants in terms of: forms of abuses, frequency of abuses and severity of the abuses; what are the levels of self-esteem of the respondents before the N.U.R.S.E. program; what is the degree of adherence among participants to the N.U.R.S.E. program; Is there a significant difference in the degree of adherence among participants to the N.U.R.S.E. program; what are the levels of self-esteem of the participants after the N.U.R.S.E program; Is there a significant difference between the levels of self-esteem of the participants before and after the N.U.R.S.E program? Individuals admitted for women abuse inflicted by an intimate partner (husband or boyfriend) at the shelter was the sample. Three sets of questionnaires were the tools. One set was to find out the forms of abuse, frequency and severity of abuse using the Likert scale as the measure. The second questionnaire measured self-esteem prior to and post-intervention and the third questionnaire measured the degree of adherence of the participants to the nursing sSelf-esteem enhancement program (N.U.R.S.E.), a checklist of ten activities that the participants did every week, for four weeks. Statistical analyses results show us that respondents suffered different forms of abuse and at different levels of frequency and severity. The differences in the degree of adherence were measured using the non-parametric test, Friedman test (ANOVA). The results showed no significant difference in adherence among the participants to the N.U.R.S.E. program. The null hypothesis was accepted. Post intervention results showed that the majority of women had a higher level of self-esteem post intervention. The t-test results showed an increase in self-esteem when comparing the scale results prior to the intervention and post intervention of the N.U.R.S.E. program. There was enough evidence from the data to declare significant difference in the level of self-esteem of the participants prior to intervention and post-intervention. Using the statistical computation for the t-test, the obtained t value was 1.9560389, a value higher than the critical table t at a level of significance of 0.05. The tabulated t was 1.796 at degrees of freedom (12-1) or 11. The null hypothesis was rejected. Recommendations: In view of the foregoing the following are the recommendations: Newly admitted women at the shelter, abused by their intimate partner, can be the focus of the criteria in choosing the sample of a future related study; The N.U.R.S.E. Program may be used in shelters for women to raise their self-esteem; Descriptive research designs should be encouraged related to this type of study; A halfway house for women starting to be financially independent and a day care center can be created for the children; Educational materials such as the National Geographic magazines can be solicited for reading; The DSWD microfinance project fund can be tapped for the livelihood projects of these women; More research studies should be encouraged related to this type of clientele: abused women by intimate partner.
