_b _b _c _aABSTRACT. The study focused on the evaluation on the attitude of the family caregivers towards the care of elderly. the study utilized sequential mixed method. For the quantitative method, the researcher adapted Caregiving Appraisal Scale. Quota sampling was used in the selection of samples of 50 families in a community with at least 1 family member/s caring for an elderly relative at their homes for the quantitative part of the study. Fifteen (15) respondents agreed to participate for a follow-up one-on-one interview on How it is like to be a family caregiver? for the qualitative part of the study. The results showed that the caregiving satisfaction caregivers experience differ significantly, where those aged 40-64 years old experienced more fulfillment while those aged 20-39 years old who primarily exhibited greater burden. Similarly, it was found that the caregiving burden that the family caregivers experience varies among the civil status for which they belong to like for those who are single, it was noted that they can carry more burden compared to married or widowed. For the qualitative part of the study the two themes that emerged are: (1) Experiencing personal happiness and contentment in family caregiving and (2) Confronting negative family caregiving experience. The instructional material (output) that was developed in this study was based on the results of the statistical treatment that manifested/showed a significant difference between the impact on the attitude of family caregivers in caring for the elderly and the profile variables of the respondents. Specifically, the following manifested significant difference: (1) Caregiving burden when grouped according to age (2) Caregiving satisfaction when grouped according to age (3) Caregiving burden when grouped according to civil status and (4) Caregiving mastery when grouped according to civil status. _u |
