_aABSTRACT: The study looked into the Attitude of Patients towards End-stage Renal Disease : Its implication to their Daily Living. Specifically, the study attempted to discuss the following questions: 1) what is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, educational attainment, occupation and level of income; 2) what is the relationship of the patient's demographic profile to their attitude towards their disease; and 3) what are the implications of the patient's attitude to their daily living in terms of health status, lifestyle, and roles. The null hypothesis raised in the study was: there is no significant relationship between the attitude of the patients towards end-stage renal disease and its implication to their daily living in terms of health status, lifestyle and roles which was tested at a 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive type of research was used and questionnaire was adopted and modified from for Diabetes from the Stanford Patient Education Research Center, Stanford University School of Medicine. Purposive sampling technique was used wherein a criteria set were as follows: the patients must be 35 years old above, newly diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (within five months prior to the time the study was conducted), seeking medical care and undergoing hemodialysis at NKTI and must be coherent, able to communicate and willing to participate in the study by providing all the necessary information needed by the researchers. Thirty persons were qualified to the above criteria set by the researchers. The researchers believe that this study will be of great significance to the patients and their family, and to those involve in the nursing care and nursing services. The researchers used the Health Belief Model (HBM) to serve as framework in this study. The HBM attempts to explain and predict behaviors of individuals by focusing on their attitudes and beliefs. As a chronic, debilitating, and terminal illness, ESRD affects the daily lives of many patients and families confronted by changes in health status, lifestyles, and roles. The patient's attitude towards the disease would have an implication to their daily living. On the data collected by the researchers, the attitude of patients towards ESRD and its implication to their daily living was assessed. The study shows that the personal profile (age, gender, educational level, occupation and level of income), health status, lifestyle and roles of the respondents affect their attitude towards ESRD.
