_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: The main focus of this research was to assess the awareness of the reproductive age group on family planning in Barangay 83, Zone 7, Tondo, Manila as a basis for the enhancement of health teaching. This study was undertaken to answer the following questions: 1. What is the Demographic Profile of the respondents in terms of: 1.1 Age 1.2 Sex 1.3 Religion 1.4 Civil Status 1.5 Highest Educational Attainment 1.6 Annual Income 1.7 Size of the Family 2. What are the preferences of the respondents on family planning, in terms of: 2.1 Natural Family Planning 2.2 Artificial Family Planning 2.3 No Family Planning 3. What is the level of awareness of the respondents on the components of the Family Planning Program, particularly: 3.1 Methods of Family Planning 3.2 Provisions of Family Planning 3.3 Maternal and Child Health 4. Is there a significant relationship between socio-demographic profile of respondents and their preferences on family planning? 5. Is there a significant relationship between socio-demographic profile and their level of awareness on the components on family planning program? 6. Is there a significant difference on preference of the respondents when grouped according to their level of awareness on components of family planning program? Descriptive research was designed to achieve more information about the relationship and characteristics of the particular subject. Quantitative research was one of the subcategories descriptive research which was used as the basis of data collection. This was a type of research in which results can be determined by objectivity, senses and other empirical method. The researchers emphasized the significance and importance of the study, descriptive correlational research was used. Through this method, the extent to which the factors, in terms of demographic profile and the preference on family planning that affects their level of awareness on the components of family planning. A probability sampling was used to choose sample from the population. Usually a preselected group was utilized. Random sampling was used in which the researchers selected and studied a sample size from a universe, such that each member of the population had an equal chance of being included in the sample. Data revealed the level of awareness of the respondents regarding family planning. It was gathered from 60 residents of Barangay 83, Zone 7, Tondo, Manila; who represented the 100% of the total population. These residents were chosen to answer the questionnaire. For the statistical treatment of data, we used mean and percentage computations. The respondents socio-demographic profile was evaluated by determining the frequency and percentage of each. The weighted mean was used to evaluate the respondents level of awareness on the components of family planning. The chi-square test was used to test how well factors or set of data are related to each other. This test was used to determine the relationship of the demographic profile and the preference of the family planning of the reproductive age group. The researchers also used ANOVA, which was the difference of the respondents preference and their level of awareness on components of family planning were evaluated. Based on the findings of the study it revealed that most of the respondents preferred to use natural family planning rather than artificial family planning. Whereas in terms of the demographic profile, most of the respondents are young adults, female, single. Roman Catholic as their religion, high school level as the highest educational attainment, below 10,000 as the income annually of their family and having a 3-5 members in the size of family. As a result from the data gathered, there was a significant relationship between the age of the respondents and their preference of family planning. There is also significant relationship on the level of awareness regarding the components of family planning and the family income of the respondents. Lastly, there is no significant difference between the respondents preference on family planning and their level of awareness. _u |
