_aABSTRACT: The study aimed to determine the perspective of spirituality and spiritual care among the institutionalized Filipino older persons which served as a basis for life enhancement of spiritual are inventions in the nursing home. Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions. What is the profile of the respondents according to sex, religion, and educational attainment? What is the level of perspectives on spiritual care of the institutionalized Filipino older persons in terms of spirituality, spiritual care, religiosity, and personalized care? Is there a significant difference in the level of perspectives on spirituality and spiritual care among the institutionalized older persons when grouped according to profile? And based on the result of the study, what guidelines can be formulated to enhance the spiritual care interventions for the institutionalized Filipino older persons? A non-experimental, descriptive research design was utilized in this study. A total of fifty-four (54) respondents were selected according to the inclusion criteria set by the researcher through purposive sampling technique. The data collection was done after securing the consent from the respondents and from the administrators of the three (3) selected institutions for the older persons in Metro Manila, Quezon City, and in Tanay, Rizal. Data gathering was done from November to December 2012 through survey questionnaire using a two-part research instrument. The first part of the questionnaire pertains to the profile data of the respondents and the second part pertains to the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) designed by Wilfred McSherry (2002) to measure the perspectives on spirituality and spiritual care of the respondents. The results of the study showed that most of the respondents were females (66.6%). Majority of the respondents belonged to Roman Catholic (77.7%) and 46.3% of them had attained the elementary level of education. The result also presented that the respondents had obtained high level of perspectives on the sub-scales of spirituality, spiritual care, and personalized care while average level of perspectives only on the sub-scale of religiosity. The conclusion of the study pointed out that there is no significant difference in the perspectives on spirituality and spiritual care among the institutionalized Filipino older persons when they are grouped according to sex, religion and educational attainment. Finally, the output of this study emphasized the importance of the guidelines for the enhancement of the spiritual care interventions in the three institutions for the Filipino older persons.
