_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: The purpose of the study is to explore, and understand the Drug user's Journey towards recovery through the Rehabilitation Center by providing a thick description of their lived experiences. It seeks to answer the grand tour question. What were the lived experiences of the drug users in their journey towards recovery through rehabilitation center? The study will benefit the Drug Users, Family Members, Nurses and Future Researchers, as it will give them better understanding towards the Drug user's journey to recovery through rehabilitation center. Social stigmas and public perceptions attached to the Drug user's journey towards recovery were not further discussed, along with the medications and treatments given during the rehabilitation process inside the rehabilitation center which makes these as the limitations of the study. The research design used was a Descriptive Phenomenological Research which stimulates people's perception of lived experiences while emphasizing the richness, breath, and depth of those experiences. The informants were individuals who sought the aid of a Rehabilitation Center because of Drug. Addition, stayed inside a Rehabilitation Center program for at least 6 months. Speaks and Understands either Filipino or English, No acute medical condition during the interview. Must have understood and signed the process consent. While the instances of relapse 1 month after the release from the rehabilitation center may or may not occurred. A Purposive Sampling was utilized, which involves documenting diverse and unique variations that have emerged in the condition, thus identifying important common among the experiences that will help the researchers to gain a complete visualization of the informant's personal experiences. The setting for the study was based on the preference of the informant. Most of it was conducted on the preferred place of the informants such as in their own respective homes and coffee shops. A snowball sampling or networking was utilized in the recruitment of the informants. A semi-structured interview was utilized which consists of several key questions that help to define the areas to be explored, but also allows the interviewer or interviewee to diverge in order to pursue an idea or response in more detail. Colaizzi's method of data analysis was used for the analysis of the data. The methods of verification used are prolonged engagement, thick description, external audit, audit trail, member check and reflexivity. The principles of Beneficence and Non-maleficence, confidentiality and autonomy were taken into consideration throughout the study. This phenomenological qualitative study precisely describes the lived experiences of a rehabilitated drug-user. Five participants recruited through the use of networking, deliberately shared with the researchers their thoughts, perceptions, beliefs, and learning gained throughout their experiences. After the verbatim transcription of the recordings, the researchers were also to saturate data and formulate meanings which then led the formulation of themes. Through a thorough and in-depth analysis of the gathered data, four themes were identified by the researchers: Way to confinement: Life as it worse, Journey to confinement: Role of the family, which subthemes; Advocate for change companion and Support Person Travel Buddy, Third theme is Tour to confinement: Character rebuilding inside the rehabilitation center, that is branched further into 3 subthemes namely Road to self-introspection: Isolation, Drive to establishing Discipline: Challenges and Bridge to Developing Sense of Responsibility: Obligation. The last theme is Flight from confinement: A modified life branching 4 subthemes namely; Regained Self-Control , Recaptured Self Efficacy, Renewed Relationship with God and Reintroduced Perception on Change. The entirety of the study has ascertained the researchers that amidst all the difficulties and challenges the rehabilitated drug-users faced, they have managed to find the road to recovery. The total journey was rough, but at the end of the road, the brought about change and new perspective are held most essential. _u |
