_aABSTRACT: Proper posture and body mechanics refer to techniques used to ensure the correct positioning of the body's center of gravity and movable joints. Consistent use of such techniques promotes health and well being of the entire body, increases energy and endurance, and decreases the risk of injury. Help to protect the body, especially the back, from pain and injury. This study focused on the effectivity of a training program by accomplishing the intended goals that includes work related proper body mechanics among Excellent General Service, Inc. employees. The training program was conducted among Excellent General Service, Inc. employees at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila whose work requires frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying objects, which made them predispose to low back pain. The subjects were 10 individuals between ages 19 to 47, 8 males and 2 females who actively perform their daily routines with equal working load and hours. A training program begun with an orientation and introduction on work related proper body mechanics. Consecutively, 10-item pre training test was conducted among the respondents. This questionnaire determined their knowledge about proper body stance, timing and coordination, precautionary measure and handling technique they must possess in performing their activities. A complete discussion and demonstration of different techniques in performing proper body mechanics was shown to every subject and active participation was observed among them. Subsequently, a 10-item post-training test was performed to measure the learned knowledge in handling equipments, carrying heavy materials, pulling and pushing activities, lifting objects from the floor. A practical examination was then administered individually. The criteria set by the researchers gave an emphasis on proper body stance, timing and coordination, precautionary measures, handling technique and proper use of equipment upon lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying activities. A positive result was obtained in each participant by comparing the pre-training test scores against the post-training test scores together with the practical examination grade and the results were analyzed descriptively. The mean of the final grades achieved by the subjects proved that the lecture and demonstration were really feasible and effective.
