_aABSTRACT: The study was intended to determine the relationship of the Battery Examination Results and Academic Performance of students of the University of Makati College of Nursing. It also aimed to create a proposal for an Enhancement Program for the nursing students who fail and with a grade of 75-79 in the Battery Examination. Specifically, the study sought answers to the questions on the profile on the respondents in terms of High School Grade Point Average, Scholarship Status, Academic Status and Initial Year General Weighted Average; Academic Performance of the respondents in terms of the Core Nursing Subjects, Professional Nursing Subjects and Community Immersion Program; Battery Examination Results in terms of General Education Subjects, Preparatory Health Sciences, Basic Concepts in Nursing and Community Health Development; the difference in the Academic Performance when respondents were grouped according to the profile variables; the difference in the results of the Battery Examination when respondents were grouped according to the profile variables; and the relationship of the Academic Performance and Battery Examination Results. A descriptive quantitative research design specifically documentary analysis was utilized in this study. The data were gathered using the researcher-constructed questionnaire checklist. Data gathering was completed from January to February 2009. A total of 467 respondents were included in the study. Statistically; this study made use of descriptive statistics specifically frequency distribution in order to describe the profile of the respondents. To determine the difference in the Academic Performance and Battery Examination results when respondents were grouped according to the profile variables. One-Way Analysis of Variance was utilized. Lastly, in order to determine the significance of r on the relationship between Academic Performance and Battery Examination, t-Test was used. Out of the 467 students, majority of them had Very Good (85%-89%) High School Grade Point Average. In terms of Scholarship Status, majority or 71% were paying students. There were also a large number of Good Standing students which was tallied at 65%. In terms of the Initial General Weighted Average, 54.2% obtained a grade between 1.6 and 2.0 interpreted as Very Good. In the academic performance of the respondents in terms of Core Nursing Subjects, majority of the respondents earned a grade between 2.1 and 2.5 (n=252 or 60.29%); on the other hand in Professional Nursing Subjects, majority of the respondents earned a grade between 1.6 and 2.5 (n=202 or 68.01%); in Community Immersion Program, similar to the grade bracket between 1.6 and 2.5 (n=142 or 51.45%) was the majority group. The battery examination results revealed that majority of students in General Education Subjects obtained a Fair grade between 75 and 79 (n=212 or 45.40%). In terms of Preparatory Health Science Courses, majority of the students however obtained Failing Grade of 74 and below (n=220 or 47.12%), for Basic Concepts of Nursing, most of the students obtained a Fair grade of between 75 and 79 (n=217 or 56.47%). Lastly, in terms of Community Health Development Subjects, most students had Fair grade between 75-79 (n=196 or 41.97%). As concluded, the study revealed that there was a significant difference in the Academic performance of students when they were grouped according to High School Grade Point Average, Scholarship Status, Academic Performance and Initial General Weighted Average. Further, there was a significant difference in the Battery Examination results of the respondents when respondents were grouped according to High School Grade Point Average, Scholarship Status, Academic Performance and Initial General Weighted Average. Lastly, there was a significant relationship between the Academic Performance of the respondents in terms of the Core Nursing Subjects, Professional Nursing Subjects. Community Immersion Program and Battery Examination results. The results and findings of this study paved way for a proposed Enrichment Program for the Nursing students of University of Makati College of Nursing. The proposed program is intended to assist students with failing and low passing scores in the Battery Examination particularly in Basic Concepts of Nursing and Community Health Development. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, recommendations were formulated such as the formulation of an Enrichment Program for students who fail and with a low passing grade between 75 and 79 particularly in Basic Concepts of Nursing and Community Health Development. Considering the results of the Battery Examination particularly in General Education subjects, articulation with the servicing department of the university be conducted in order to possibly in crease the passing performance of the students. Considering the complexity of the subject matter and adjustment stage of the students in relating to the first nursing subject, i.e, Preparatory Health Sciences, approaches can be implemented such as creativity, innovativeness and resourcefulness in the delivery of subject matter will the aid of videos, simulation activities, increased laboratory exposure with provisions for utilization of appropriate resources, models and miniatures.
