_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study aimed to develop a caring program as an approach to identified behavior problems of adolescents who are students at the Daughters of Charity schools. The specific problems were geared towards the identification of the extent of overt behavior problems observed and experienced by adolescents based on the perceptions of adolescents, parents, teachers, and school administrators, in terms of: personal, school-related, and relationship. Factors influencing behavior problems were also considered in terms of: home, school, student herself, and environment. Relationship between the overt behavior problems of adolescents as perceived by adolescents, parents, teachers, and school administrators were also looked into. Activities designed by the guidance departments to address these behavior problems were asked during the structured interview. The proponent to address the identified behavior problems devised a caring program. The descriptive - correlation method of research was utilized in the study. The stratified random sampling, using random number technique was used. The obtained data were treated statistically utilizing weighted mean average to describe the variables being considered. Spearman rank correlation coefficient was utilized to determine the significant relationship between overt behavior problems of adolescents and the perception of each respondent. Students, parents, teachers, and school administrators rated the extent of personal overt behavior problems to a least extent. The extent of school-related overt behavior problems obtained varied ratings, less extent by the students and school administrators; least extent by the parents and moderate extent by the teachers. Relationship overt behavior problems obtained ratings of least extent from the students and parents; and less extent from the teachers and school administrators. Communication gap with parents, ranked number one as home factor influencing behavior problems of adolescents; while unfair impartial teachers ranked number one as the school factor influencing behavior problems of adolescents. Poor study habits is the student factor influencing behavior problems of adolescents; while ranked number one in the environmental factor is bad company. The Guidance Departments utilized sessions, classroom and home visitations, friendly chats, case conference with parents and advisers. Significant relationship exists between the perceptions of the four groups of respondents in terms of personal and school-related factors. No significant relationship exists between perceptions of the four groups of respondents in relationship overt behavior problems. Based on the findings of the study, a CARING PROGRAM had been devised by the proponent. It is recommended that the said program be implemented for school year 2001-2002. _u |
