_aABSTRACT: The researchers' objective in conducting the study was to find the relationship between personality traits and resilience of people in a flood prone area to have basis for the creation of resilience management program. Being one of the residents of the area, the researcher was motivated to continue the study to determine if the respondents really possessed a resilient characteristics needed to manifest of calamity. The researcher, using a descriptive-correlation research design had identified the personality traits and resilience of the 205 respondents from Barangay San Vicente Calasiao Pangasinan using the Big Five Inventory and Resilience Scale-14 respectively. A Socio-Demographic questionnaire was also used to gather data such as gender, age, educational status and socioeconomic status needed for the study. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents were female (61.5%) from the group of early adult (18-39 years old), college graduate, and belonged to lower income class (below 294,96.00). They manifested a high level of agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness. However, extraversion and neuroticism were expressed to have a low level of manifestation. Respondents were also found to have a moderate level of resilience which showed the possession of a resilient characteristics but sometimes experienced anxiety and depression. The non-significant difference of resilience when grouped according to demographic characteristics was also revealed in the study. A significant difference was found between gender and conscientiousness as well as between age and extraversion. Relationship between agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness with resilience was also found in the study. Based from the above findings, the following conclusions were derived : Respondents manifested high level of agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness while low level of extraversion and neuroticism were expressed as the personality traits of people in Barangay San Vicente. Respondents had a moderate level of resilience which made them able to accommodate stress and axiety despite the feelings of tiredness and lack of energy because of problems at the end of day. Demographic characteristics were also found to be non-significant with resilience which means that regardless of gender, age, educational status, and socioeconomic status, residents had a moderate level of resilience. A significant between age and conscientiousness was found in study which can be attributed to the gender roles performed by the respondents while experience and responsibility seemed to be the reason for the significant difference found in age and extraversion. Personality with resilience. These were considered positive traits among the Filipinos which could help them in the development of resilience. The following were the recommendations offered by the researcher from the given conclusions: Maintaining the level of agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness, and neuroticism which are considered to be a factor in resilience is recommended. However, the improvement of extraversion is advised among the respondents to further improve their relationship with others in their community. Results showed a moderate resilience was manifested by the respondents. Although it describes a person as having a more resilient characteristics, improvement is still needed to further adapt themselves in an adverse situations. The implementation of the proposed program is necessary to help the respondents increase the level of their resilience as well as to maintain the positive traits needed to support resilience. Government is also encourage to help the residents in times of calamity. Needs of the people should be immediately delivered such as food and shelter to prevent negative emotions experienced by the respondents.
