_aABSTRACT: This research was conducted to design a school-based prevention program that focused on the intervention, prevention and postvention od self-destructive behavior that often lead to suicide among adolescents. The Suicide Potential Inventory for Filipinos (SPIF) was used to ascertain the suicidal tendencies among 421 senior high school students from the four parochial schools in Pasig City. The results of the research indicated that there is a moderate degree of hopelessness, helplessness, suicide ideation, negative self-evaluation and hostility among respondents of the four parochial schools. Chi square computation revealed however that certain socio-personal variables show significant relationship with the above mentioned suicidal dimensions. Age shows significant relationship with negative self-evaluation. Likewise, gender, family income and academic standing show significant relationship with hostility. More so, ordinal position shows significant relationship with hopelessness and parents' marital status shows significant relationship with helplessness. In general, a moderate degree of suicidal tendency was recognized among respondents. Likewise, the analysis of variance provides evidence that there is no significant difference on the degree of suicidal tendency among respondents of the four parochial schools. The Suicide Assessment, Ventilation and Education or S.A.V.E, a suicide preventive program, was developed as a result of the study. SAVE aims to assist the school counselors in guiding high school students to cope up with the different causal factors of suicide. This program has seven objectives organized within three interrelated components.
