_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study aimed to determine the psychosocial conditions of middle aged faculty of selected state universities in Metro Manila and its relationship to their performance rating. Specifically, the researcher sought to answer the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of gender, civil status and academic rank. Likewise, the performance rating and the psychosocial profile of the middle-aged teachers was determined. Furthermore, it was tested if there was a significant difference between the psychosocial profiles of the respondents when grouped according to demographic profile. In order to measure the psychosocial conditions of the respondents, a standardized instrument called California Test of Personality (CTP) was used. To get the data for the performance rating, the respondents' performance rating for School Year 2008-2009, First (1st) semester were obtained from the Office of the Deans or from Human Resource Department. The gathered data were interpreted and tested to know the significant difference between the psychosocial profile and the demographic profile of the respondents; and to identify the significant relationship between the middle-aged faculty respondents' psychosocial profile and performance rating. The study employed descriptive method because it described and compared the psychosocial conditions and performance rating of the respondents of the study. The respondents of the study were middle aged college faculty members of selected universities in Metro Manila. A total of 150 respondents from three universities in Metro Manila were included in the research. The researcher utilized purposive sampling technique in the study. Based on the findings, the faculty respondents representing three (3) universities in Metro Manila are basically female dominated and married. Also, most of the respondents are performing outstandingly and very satisfactorily in the performance of the academic requirements, in where the bulk of them were holders of assistant professors item and associate professors. Likewise, the 150 faculty respondents from the three (3) public universities, exhibited moderate level of adjustment in self-reliance, sense of personal worth, feeling of belongingness, withdrawing tendencies, and nervous symptoms, but fairly low in sense of personal freedom. However, in social adjustment, the same group of participants expressed moderate level of adjustment in social standards, social skills, family relations, and occupation relations but considerably low in anti-social tendencies and community relations. Moreover, the findings of the study showed that there is no significant difference exists between the psychosocial profile of the faculty from three (3) universities when grouped according to selected demographic profile: gender, civil status and rank. Finally, the study was able to found out that there is no significant relationship between the psychosocial profile and the level of performance rating among the middle-aged faculty of selected universities in Metro Manila. On the basis of the results of the study, the researcher recommends that a need to understand the profile characteristics of the respondents whenever the profile information in used in the study. There is also a need to consider not only gender and civil status, but also age, occupation, and length of service in present occupations because these characteristics are also revealing of their behavior and attitude, abilities and capabilities and even their socialization orientation. Likewise, the need of the faculty to undergo training, re-training, annual team building, psychotherapeutic processing, retreat or group dynamics to update them to the latest instructional innovations and strategies and to prepare them to become more competent and proficient teachers.
