_aABSTRACT: The study entitled The Personality Profile of Psychometrists in Selected Private and Government Schools was conducted mainly to determine the personality characteristics of some selected psychological test examiners. Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions: (1) What is the socio-demographic profile of psychometrists in the private and government schools in terms of: age, gender, civil status, socio-economic status, educational attainment, and years of service as psychometrists?; (2) What is the personality profile of psychometrists in private and government schools as revealed by the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule?, (3) Is there a significant relationship between the personality and the socio-demographic profile of the respondents? (4) Are there mean score differences among the responses of the respondents on the different personality variables? and, (5) Is there a significant difference between the personality profile of pychometrists in the private and government schools? In relation to the aforementioned statements of the problem, the researcher had formulated the following hypotheses which were tested at .05 level of significance: (1) There is no significant relationship between the personality profile and the socio-demographic variables of the respondents, (2) There are no mean score differences among the responses of the respondents on the different personality variables, and (3) There is no significant difference between the personality profile of psychometrists in private and government schools. This study utilized the Descriptive method as its research design. The respondents were purposively selected from some selected private and government schools. Furthermore, this research utilized the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule as its major instrument. It was revealed in this study that some of the personality variables and socio-demographic variables of the respondents are related with one another, such as; (a) achievement to civil status, socio-economic status, and educational attainment, and years of service, (d) exhibition to age, civil status, socio-economic status, and years of service, (e) autonomy to gender, civil status, socio-economic status, and years of service, (f) affiliation to age, gender, civil status, socio-economic status, (g) intraception to age and socio-economic status, (h) succorance to socio-economic status and educational attainment, (i) dominance to socio-economic status, (j) abasement to socio-economic status, educational attainment and years of service, (k) nurturance to age, socio-economic status and educational attainment, (l) change to gender, socio-economic status and educational attainment, (m) endurance to socio-economic status, educational attainment, and years of service, (n) heterosexuality to civil status, socio-economic status and educational attainment, and (o) aggression to gender, civil status, socio-economic status, educational attainment, and years of service. It was also revealed in the study that, there are mean score differences among the responses of the respondents on the different personality variables. Moreover, it was concluded that there is a significant difference between the personality profile of the pyschometrists in private and in government schools. In connection to the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are offered: (1) Psychometrists should be made aware of the findings of this study, so that they can perform their duties more effectively during testing sessions. (2) Psychometrists should consider developing some aspects of their personality, especially those characteristics which are essential to their profession as examiners; like the endurance, order, and intraception. (3) Institutions that utilize psychometric testing should consider the results and findings of this study for them to further assess the personal qualification of the psychometrists in their organizations. (4) Further studies that employ other methods and instruments and a larger number of samples should be encouraged. Future researchers are also encouraged to explore more on the analysis of how the psychometrists or test examiners significantly affect the performance of the test-takers.
