_b _b _c _aThe study assessed the extent of the implementation of management practices of the academic heads in selected 54% of Local Colleges and Universities (LCUs) located in the National capital Region (NCR) in terms of the identified variables: educational leadership style and empowerment, curriculum and instruction, research, extension program, and internal organization; and their profile: educational background, rank, years of experience in teaching, years in current designation, and nature of appointment. Using the expert and statistically treated Management Practices' Self-Assessment Questionnaire (MPSAQ) with the total of 162 academic heads and the open-ended expert validated questionnaire with the 7 representatives from each selected LCUs, the study had gathered and treated the data to find out the extent of the implementation of management practices among the selected LCUs in terms of the identified variables and grouped profile. Based on the results, the study had found out that there were variations in the extent of the implementation of management practices among the selected LCUs in NCR in terms of the identified variables ranging from the average ratings of 3.3 to 4.5 or the descriptions from moderate extent to very great extent. Based on the results and findings, the study concluded that there was significant difference in the extent of the implementation of management practices among the selected LCUs in NCR in terms of educational leadership style and empowerment, curriculum and instruction, research and internal organization but no significant difference in terms of extension program. Further, the study had found out that there were uneven values in frequency or percentage across the profile of the respondents and concluded that there was significant difference in the extent of the implementation of management practices among the selected respondents in terms of rank and nature of designation and no significant difference in terms of educational background, years of experience in teaching and years in current position. Furthermore, the results of the study were substantiated by the gathered qualitative data gathered from the academic representatives of the selected LCUs using FGI and DT approaches. Based on the conclusions of the study, the Educational Development Program (EDP) is crafted to provide series of training seminar-workshop that is designed to enhance the management practices of the academic heads among the selected LCUs in NCR in the areas of Educational Leadership Style and Empowerment, Curriculum and Instruction, research, Extension Program, Internal Organization, and their Profile. _u |
