_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: The present study generally aims to find out the management skills of administrators in Christian schools a basis for a proposed capability-building program. It measured and assessed the level of performance of the top and middle level school managers with respect to selected Christian institutions using the management skills. Specifically, the study attempted to answer the following questions: the level of performance of the top and the middle management on the following skills: technical skills, interpersonal skills, conceptual skills, diagnostic skills, communication skills, decision making skills, and time management skills. The descriptive research method was used in this study with the use of a modified set of survey questionnaires to assess and re-examine the competencies / skills of administrators in Christian institutions. Data were gathered from 5 school principals/ top level school managers and 30 department heads/ middle school managers from selected Christian schools. Data were collected, tabulated and treated through descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequency and percentage, sum, weighted mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results of the present study served as basis for a proposed capability-building program. Findings of the study showed the following that management skills in Christian institutions are evidently strong. On technical skills, the technical perspectives lies in the following aspects: delegates and assigns personnel for better outputs by top managers. The interpersonal aspects revealed a very strong indication of skills by top level managers from the middle level managers in the overall. The principals as conceptual managers manifested skills in formulating or drafting policies in carrying out the institutional goals by the top leaders from the middle group in the over-all. The educational managers diagnostically show a strong sense of competence in leadership and management by the top administrators. Communications skills have the highest self assessment among other skills that principals are engaged in using various crafts of proper communication by the top managers. It is evident that principals are directly involved in decision making process with the application of consideration of other's shared ideas coming from the top leaders. Principals/ administrators are time bound by direct participation in assigned tasks/ responsibilities by the top managers. There are no significant differences between the level of performance of the top and middle school managers according to the following 7 management skills. Common management issues/ concerns surfaced as a result of the study, and basis for a proposed capability-building program. There are no significant differences noted in the level of performance of the top and middle school managers. The following recommendations are hereby given that every school head particularly in church based Christian schools should initiate a holistic self assessment evaluation, to all school personnel, the top, middle level administrators including the rank in file to ensure the sustainability and productivity. Reorientation of top and middle level leaders in the management, being perceived as source of concerns/ issues on educational leadership and management. Capability building programs, retreats, in service training and seminars be conceptualized and implemented.
