_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: With the end to improve the instructional program in science, the study was conducted to assess the status of science instruction of Hope Christian High School. Specifically, it sought to determine the level of teachers' performance in science and its relation to school performance in science. In addition, it also sought to find out the perception of the stakeholders about science instruction in the elementary department in terms of the schools' physical plant and facilities, laboratory equipment and supplies, teaching aids and devices, instructional materials, teaching methods/approaches and strategies, and assessment of student learning. The study also aimed to establish the presence or absence of significant relationship between the stakeholders' perception of science instruction and the school performance in science. The study utilized the descriptive method of research where in the data were gathered through documentary analysis and administration of researcher-made instruments to the stakeholders. Statistical treatment used in answering the specific problems were mean, weighted mean, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study show a very satisfactory level of teachers' performance. However, the school performance in science is still at the borderline or moderately low proficient. Science instruction was generally perceived by the stakeholders as very satisfactory as shown by strong integration of technology and internet in learning experiences designed by the science teachers. Moreover, there is a significant difference among the perceptions of the stakeholders in terms of laboratory equipment and supplies, and Instructional materials. On the other hand, absence of significant difference was observed among the stakeholders' perception of the stakeholders in terms of physical plant and facilities, teaching aids and devices, teaching strategies, and types of assessment. As a whole, this study investigation reflects teachers' potential to deliver quality education in a school environment conducive to science learning. It recommends enhancement of departmental strategies in increasing science achievement to improve science instruction. _u |
