_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study aims to determine the perceptions of AB Mass Communication Students on the LPU Core Values promoted on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Rated K as basis for syllabi enhancement. Specifically, this study attempts to answer the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following? a. Year level b. Gender 2. What LPU core values are promoted in the programs Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Rated K? a. theme; b. dialogue; c. visual image; d. spiels; and e. music 3. Is there a significant difference in the perceptions of the students on the LPU core values promoted in the public affairs programs when grouped according to year level in terms of the following elements: a. theme; b. dialogue; c. visual image; d. spiels; and e. music 4. Is there a significant difference in the perceptions of the students on the LPU core values promoted in the public affairs programs when grouped according to gender in terms of the following elements: a. theme; b. dialogue; c. visual image; d. spiels; and e. music 5. What suggestions for syllabi enhancement can be derived from the results of the respondents' perceptions? One hundred twenty five of the AB Mass Communication students, level 1 to 4 served as the respondents for this investigations. A researcher-constructed survey questionnaire with three parts was used in the study. Part one of the yields the respondents' demographic profile specifically, gender and year level. The second part consists of twenty-one (21) statements, three (3) for each of the seven (7) LPU core values, namely: Love of God, professional integrity, unity, nationalism, justice, perseverance, and leadership. This part is applicable both for Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Rated K? The third part contained thirty five (35) statements that would confirm the presence of the LPU core values in the five public affairs program elements namely: theme, dialogue, visual image, spiel and music. Items on the second and third parts of the questionnaire offered a four point Likert scale, with values ranging from strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly disagree. After the data had been tabulated and presented it was found that the female students dominated the males in terms of population of respondents-the AB Mass Communication students of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas. In terms of year level, the second year got the highest number of respondents. In both public affairs program, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Rated K, the LPU core values that are mostly promoted are nationalism, unity and professional integrity. However, all the rest of LPU core values are promoted in the two public affairs program. In Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho's program, nationalism, leadership and perseverance are seen mostly in the theme, dialogue, visual image, spiel and music. For Rated K, it was consistently perseverance that was shown in all the PAP elements. As to comparison of perceptions on LPU core values and PAP elements as to year level, for Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, there is no significant difference. As to comparison of perceptions on LPU core values and PAP elements as to gender, there is a significant difference in most items from Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, compared to Rated K, where most items have no significant difference. It is further recommended results of the study may be considered in syllabi enhancement in Mass Communication subjects. _u |
