_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study was designed to find out the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's Information Dissemination Strategies and the perceptions of Middle East Based overseas contract workers. The ninety respondents represented the problematic area of the Middle East to ferret out the strengths and weaknesses of the agency's information dissemination strategies highly reflected on the findings of perception of Middle East based overseas contract workers. Two main questions wer deemed vital in answering the query: 1. What are the information dissemination strategies of OWWA in terms of Source, Message, Channel, Receivers and Effects? 2. What are the perceptions of Middle East based Overseas contract workers have of OWWA? The study used two types of research designs, the descriptive research design for the first phase and the one shot case survey design for the second phase. Percentile and ranking were utilized in order to determine the perceptions of Middle East based overseas workers have of OWWA. For the first phase of the study, researcher found out that generally OWWA has no information dissemination strategies in conducting its communication - information activities. Gleaned from the fact that Middle East based overseas contract workers have a low perception of OWWA as proven by results of phase II. Based on said findings, it is recommended that Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's management should take note, part and introduce the necessary changes for the delivery, enhancement and improvement of policies and guidelines which has direct bearing to the information dissemination strategies of the agency. Some rethinking is also recommended so that through the personnel of the Publication and Information Unit as well as the Overseas Programs Department could perform their respective functions and communication- information activities be better served not only to workers in problem areas such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Hongkong, Singapore, Kuwait, and Japan; but in other potential welfare problems countries as preventive measures in honoring and protecting the overseas contract workers for their worthwhile contributions to the Philippines' economic recovery. _u |
