_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: Textile waste cuttings derived from the different garment factories were analyzed and tested for possible new breed of lightweight construction materials. These waste cuttings were further cut and shredded then mixed with cement and water at varying textile-cement proportions at controlled water-cement ratios. Textile-cement proportions and water-cement ratios would be by weight of the three materials being taken as variables-textile waste cuttings, cement and water. The effects of the textile-cement proportions as well as water-cement ratios on the volume, unit weight, water and moisture absorption, compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength as well as flammability were tested and evaluated using ASTM standards. Also, the effects of controlling the size of these waste cuttings were studied to see if there is a need to subject these waste cuttings to some other processes (cutting and shredding) before using it in actual production. Furthermore, cost analysis were made to establish its financial viability in comparison with other related construction materials in the market. _u |
