500			_aAbstract The purpose of this study was to describe what it is like to be on hemodialysis at midlife. It aimed to present a rich description capturing the essence of phenomena through the human experiences of middle-aged adults who have directly encountered challenges and dilemmas associated with the transition to a life of hemodialysis treatments. Also, it sought to understand the effects of Hemodialysis had on a middle-aged individual and how all the usual aspirations and responsibilities that they held in life were all put in second place because of the urgency of their condition. In this descriptive study, the researcher employed a phenomenological research design making use of a maximum variation purposive sampling technique for the recruitment of three middle-aged adults with diverse characteristics. A semi-structured interview approach was brought into play in collecting the data and was guided by a self-made interview guide questions to ensure that all areas of the participants' experiences were covered. The researcher analyzed the data using a qualitative methodological approach proposed by Collaizi. Five themes emerged during the course of the study as follows: Dependency - From Provider to Providee, Resourcing Daily Strength, Feelings of Stagnation, Living in Hope, and Resignation to the Routines of Hemodialysis. In these themes echoed the patients' feeling of being a burden due to their limitations and dependence. In light of this, a self-management program is recommended to these patients in order to give them the confidence and motivation they need to manage the challenges of living on hemodialysis.
