| 505 | _aAbstract: The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003) was enacted to promote proper waste management and sustainable practices in the Philippines. However, waste management challenges persist in Intramuros, Manila, a historic and commercial hub. This study assessed the extent of compliance of 117 non-ambulant street vendors in Intramuros with RA 9003 standards, focusing on waste segregation, recycling, composting, and proper disposal. Utilizing descriptive research design, data was collected through surveys and analyzed using Weighted Mean and Frequency-Percentage Distribution. Results revealed that street vendors complied only to a lesser extent due to limited access to facilities, inadequate awareness, and weak enforcement mechanisms. The findings emphasize the need for tailored interventions, including developing a formal waste management policy, establishing Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs), and placing color-coded bins to enhance segregation at the source. Recommendations also include prioritizing vendor-specific policies by the Intramuros Administration (IA), revisiting national regulations to address unique challenges in heritage areas, and providing regular training and incentives for street vendors. Strengthened collaboration between vendors, local authorities, and waste collection services is essential to foster compliance and promote sustainable waste management practices in Intramuros. | ||
