_b _b _c _aThis descriptive research was undertaken 1) to assess the managerial functions of public secondary school administrators in the Division of Mandaluyong as self-assessed and as assessed by their teachers during the school year 2008-2009; 2) to identify the profile of the school administrators in the public secondary schools in terms of highest educational attainment, length of service as administrator, and in-service trainings attended as demographic characteristics; 3) to determine the administrators' assessment of their managerial role with regard to planning, programming, budgeting, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting/feedback: 4) to determine the teachers' assessment of their administrators' performance in relation to the cited variables; 5) to determine a significant difference between the administrators' self-assessed performance and the teachers' assessment of the same; 6) to determine a significant independence between the teachers' assessment and administrators' self-assessment of their managerial functions; 7) to propose an enhancement program that will attune the managerial roles of the school administrators in the Division of mandaluyong. Respondents of the study were 63 public secondary school administrators composing of seven principals, ten assistants to the principals, eight head teachers, 38 subject coordinators/chairmen, and 137 public secondary school teachers in the Division of Mandaluyong City, the study's locale. Statistical tools used were percentage, weighted mean, t-test, and chi-square. The findings revealed that the administrators' assessment of their managerial functions and teachers' assessment of the same were very satisfactory and had a significant difference in the areas of planning and reporting/feedback at 0.05 level of significance. However, it also indicated that the administrators' self-assessment of their managerial functions is independent of their teachers' assessment. Likewise, educational attainment and length of service as administrator found no significant dependence on administrators' performance of their managerial functions except in-service trainings attended. On the light of the findings, an enhancement program for strengthening the weak areas of managerial roles was proposed for preparation and incorporation in the in-service training of school administrators for improved management competencies, school performance and student achievement. _u |
