ABSTRACT: This study focuses on the development and implementation of MHSLEARN, a web-based e-learning system tailored for Manila High School, serving both regular and Alternative Learning System (ALS) students. The system provides essential tools for remote learning, including access to educational materials, user dashboards, and progress tracking. A significant innovation is the enhancement of the Functional Literacy Test (FLT), which now includes classification and immediate feedback features to better assess ALS students readiness for different curriculum levels. Furthermore, the integration of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology enables students to engage in reading and comprehension assessments, providing real-time feedback to improve their literacy skills. The system was developed using the Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring flexibility and scalability. The system’s evaluation, conducted by the researchers through these four distinct groups: normal curriculum students. ALS students, teachers, and IT experts, showed high satisfaction levels in terms of functional suitability, portability, and overall usability. These results affirm that MHSLEARN effectively addresses the challenges of remote learning and functional literacy assessment, offering a comprehensive, user-friendly solution that enhances the educational experience for diverse learners at Manila High School.
