Manila Bulletin is one of oldest newspaper in the country, operating for 120 years. Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. has a wide array of products ranging from newspapers to magazines. Moreover, Manila Bulletin is also the only newspaper publisher that is listed in Philippine Stock Exchange. Evaluating the vision and mission primarily gives a better understanding of what are the values, beliefs, and philosophy the organization which will also serve as a guideline in the succeeding part of the paper, especially in strategy formulation. Evaluating and reinventing the vision mission statement helps in defining achievable goals. With the external assessment, this show us what external factors affect the company. The EFE Matrix is used to visualize and prioritize the opportunities and threats that affects a business. The matrix is composed of external factors such as political, economic, environmental and other external forces. The total weighted score indicates the firm's ability to respond to external factors. As for Manila Bulletin, it has score of 2.52 which translates to the company being "average" on responding to external forces that influences the business. Chapter V helps define the environment of the industry by identify forces that directly affects a company. In this chapter, we used Porter's Five Forces, moreover, this chapter defines who are the direct competitors of Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. and what are its competitive factors. With the help of Competitive Profile Matrix, it is easy to see the company's competitive landscape, the company's position in a given market, and possible opportunities to differentiate a company's products and services from the competition. Next is the Internal Assessment, this defines a company's strength and weaknesses. The tool used in this chapter is the IFE Matrix, The IFE Matrix is used to assess different functional areas such as finance, operations and marketing, in other Words, this evaluates a company's internal factors. These factors are divided into strengths and weaknesses. This helps in identifying which weakness should be given immediate attention. The IFE Matrix shows a score of 2.55 which translates to the company being in an "average" position in its industry. In the strategy formulation stage, tools such as the SWOT Matrix, IE Matrix, SPACE Matrix, Grand Strategy Matrix and BCG Matrix are used in order to identify which strategy is the best to employ for Manila Bulletin. With the help of the tools, the recommended business strategies are Product Development and Market Penetration. The main initiative for these strategies is how Manila Bulletin will keep up with the age of digitalization.
