Reported in this paper is the isolation and identification of 4 iridoids from the pharmacologically active fraction of the leaves of V. negundo. Three of the iridoids contain glucosyl and parahydroxybenzoic acid moities. To date, only a limited number of studies were undertaken on the biological activity of iridoids although these are known to be active constituents in a number of traditional medicinal plants. Among the properties attributed to iridoids include analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. The 4 iridoids isolated and identified are 2'-p-hydroxybenzoyl mussaenosidic acid, 6'-p-hydroxybenxoyl mussaenosidic acid, agnuside and lagundinin 56
